Exquisite corpse...

Earlier this year I was asked by Ian Daniell and Katie Brookes to be the third artist in a piece created for the exquisite corpse exhibition/festival in New York. Both Ian and Katie are also artists who also practice taxidermy. I did the "legs". the head was a duck, torso a rabbit and the legs were from a raven. the finished piece titled 'the pet' became the mascot for the entire event. Orang-Pendek

As I am now in my third and final year of my Masters It was time to complete my Dissertation. I started researching animals that became extinct such a long time ago that no physical models or illustrations existed. Along this trail I Started reading a lot about the Orang-pendek. A Cryptid.

Sightings stretch back into the mists of time, I decided to investigate. I have worked closely with Richard Freeman Who is the zoological director for the Centre of Fortean Zoology. Richard has been on many expeditions to the Kerrinci seblat national park in an Indonesia, and has just completed his first book on this subject. I was lucky enough to read a draft and I recommend it. The importance of the Orang-pendek's discovery is colossal. To find out why you can read my dissertation. Along with the written report I also made a life size model of the Orang-pendek from descriptions by hundreds of eye witnesses. I will post my text later in the week hopefully.

Big Cats in the U.K

I have been been working with Neil Arnold on some recent work. Neil is the U.K's leading expert on big cats within the British isles. He often does talks on various subjects andIi thoroughly recommend going along to one. The talks are usually in interesting locations and Neil is a great showman, his delivery, knowledge and passion shine through every story he tells. He also does ghost walks up the infamous bluebell hill, and can be seen tracking and collecting evidence up and down the country. His books are full of well researched information and contain histories of Britain that don't exist anywhere else in print. I look forward to the work we can do in the future......

'Ground Floor Left’s permanent artists in residence Chris Mowbray, Andrew Demetry, Oliver Dickens & Josh Jeavons have been kindly asked to showcase new work & curate the Fine Art floor of next week’s ‘Made In East London’

The event will consist of a variety of creative practices & entertainment set across three floors of an interesting building that has played backdrop to everything from industry events to lesbian goth nights & torture porn shoots..The floors, each with own bar, will feature theatre productions, live music & dance performances, fashion exhibits, film screenings, architectural constructions, art installations, performance and exhibitions

GFL’s personal interest lies in response to the impending cuts/potential closure facing AVA’s Fine Art Programme due to it’s ‘inability’ to provide secure job prospects for it’s post graduates..We must oppose this notion by demonstrating the viability & importance of Art & the creative industries

Last legs Halloween event

In october I got asked by Chris and Andrew of Ground floor left gallery to exhibit in an event organised by the robin collective. Ground floor left was set up by a bunch of former uel art students who now live in the walls of the space in hackney. I've been really busy and internetless, I did a bit of taxidermy for Toby Christian , I go to school with Toby . see the his exhibition here.

I'm working on a video piece as part of an istallation and a few other bits and pieces. hopefully willhave a tonne of stuff next year.
